GlottaVue exists because weight-based dosing shouldn't depend on a signal. The core calculator — drug doses, equipment sizes, local anesthetic limits — runs entirely on-device, so it works in a rural OR, a field hospital, or a basement suite with no bars on the phone, exactly as well as it works anywhere else.
It's built around one hard rule: nothing patient-specific is ever stored or transmitted. Age, weight, height, sex, and every dose calculated from them live only in memory for as long as the app is open — nothing about a patient ever leaves the device, full stop.
That access problem isn't abstract. It comes out of three trips to Liberia since 2024, working alongside a workforce of 4 anesthesiologists and 83 practicing nurse anesthetists for the country's 5.7 million people — still rebuilding from a civil war that destroyed 82% of its public health facilities and an Ebola epidemic that killed 8% of its doctors, nurses, and midwives. The nurse anesthetists who carry that system do it with no working capnography, reused disposable supplies, and power outages multiple times a day — the same clinical judgment expected anywhere else, with a fraction of the tools.
Cost is part of that same access problem. Providers in Liberia and other low- and middle-income countries are routinely priced out of dosing apps with comparable features entirely. Keeping the full app free removes that barrier rather than treating it as a problem for later.
Dosing data, MAC values, and every Medication Reference monograph are sourced from named references — Stoelting's Pharmacology, FDA product labeling, PALS/ACLS guidelines, and published pediatric dosing studies. It's a reference starting point for a provider's own clinical judgment, not a replacement for it.
