Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 13, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how GlottaVue ("the app," "we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use the GlottaVue Anesthesia mobile application ("the App"). GlottaVue is a reference tool for anesthesia providers offering weight- and age-based drug dosing and equipment sizing information, along with optional reference features available through a subscription.

Summary

The core App — drug dosing, equipment sizing, and the General & TIVA profiles — is designed to work fully offline and never collects, stores, transmits, or shares any patient data or personal information. The only exceptions are: (1) subscribing and restoring purchases, which briefly contact Apple's or Google's servers, and (2) the optional "Ask a Clinical Question" feature, which sends the question text you type (never patient data) to our server to generate an AI answer. Both are described in detail below.

Information We Do Not Collect

The App does not collect, log, transmit, or store:

  • Any patient information you enter (age, weight, height, sex, or any calculated results). This information exists only in the App's memory while you are actively using it and is discarded the moment you close the App or navigate away — it is never saved to disk, never transmitted over the network, and never seen by us. This applies everywhere in the App, including Ask a Clinical Question — that feature only ever sends the question text you type, never any patient details from the calculator.
  • Any personal information about you as the user (name, email address, location, contacts, photos, etc.).
  • Any analytics, usage statistics, crash logs, or behavioral tracking data.
  • Any advertising identifiers. The App contains no advertising and no third-party advertising SDKs.

The App does not use cookies or similar tracking technologies, as it is a native mobile application, not a website.

Information Stored Locally on Your Device

A small amount of information is stored locally on your device only, using standard iOS/Android on-device storage (NSUserDefaults on iOS, SharedPreferences on Android). This information never leaves your device, is never transmitted to us or to any third party, and is automatically deleted if you uninstall the App:

  • Custom drug/equipment profiles you choose to create and save for your own use.
  • Subscription entitlement status, so the App remembers your subscription without requiring you to sign in — refreshed from Apple's/Google's own records, not tracked independently by us.
  • Whether you've acknowledged the one-time Ask a Clinical Question notice (see below), so it isn't shown to you more than once.

Subscription

GlottaVue Premium is an optional, auto-renewing subscription (billed monthly or annually, with a free trial) that unlocks Custom Profiles, Case Tips, Crisis Checklists, and Ask a Clinical Question. All purchase processing, payment information, and billing is handled entirely by Apple's App Store or Google's Play Store, in accordance with their own respective privacy policies:

We do not receive, see, process, or store your payment information, billing details, or any other information related to the transaction. Your subscription is managed entirely through your Apple ID or Google account — you can view, change, or cancel it any time in your device's account settings, or via "Manage subscription" in the App's Sources & Disclaimer screen.

Subscribing and restoring purchases both require an internet connection to communicate with Apple's or Google's servers. No patient or personal data is involved in that exchange. Using the App's free features, and using an already-active subscription for its gated features (aside from Ask a Clinical Question specifically), does not require a connection.

Ask a Clinical Question (AI Feature)

Ask a Clinical Question is an optional feature, available to subscribers, that lets you type a free-text clinical question and receive an AI-generated answer. It is the only feature in the App that sends anything you type off your device (aside from the subscription process above). Before it's used for the first time, the App shows a one-time notice explaining this; using the feature means you've agreed to it.

When you submit a question:

  1. The question text you typed, along with a subscription verification token (not your name, email, or any patient information), is sent to GlottaVue's backend server, hosted on Cloudflare.
  2. Our server independently verifies with Apple or Google that the verification token belongs to an active subscription, then forwards your question to Anthropic's Claude AI to generate an answer.
  3. The answer is returned to the App and shown to you. Our server does not store your question or the answer beyond what's needed to generate and return that one response.

Per Anthropic's own policies, data sent to their API is not used to train their models; Anthropic may briefly retain API inputs/outputs as described in their privacy policy, primarily for abuse and safety monitoring. See Anthropic's Privacy Policy and Cloudflare's Privacy Policy for details on how each of these providers, which power this one feature, handle data that passes through their systems.

Do not include patient-identifying information in a question. This feature is designed for general clinical/pharmacology questions, not patient-specific consultations — it doesn't need, and shouldn't receive, any details that could identify a real patient.

The answer is AI-generated general clinical reference material — like the rest of the App, it is a starting point requiring your own clinical judgment, not a substitute for it, and not a treating clinician's advice.

Children's Privacy

GlottaVue is a professional clinical reference tool intended for use by licensed healthcare providers and is not directed at, marketed to, or intended for use by children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children, because the App does not collect personal information from any user.

Data Security

The core App does not transmit or store patient or personal data outside your device, so there is no server-side data of yours from ordinary use for us to secure or that could be breached. The one exception is described above under Ask a Clinical Question: while a question is being processed, it passes through our server and Anthropic's API, both of which use industry-standard security practices, before the response is returned to you and nothing is retained. Information stored locally on your device is protected by your device's own operating system security.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App or for legal or operational reasons. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
